A long time ago, since antiquity...

Mathematitans have studied the Golden ratio's properties

The golden ratio was called the extreme and mean ratio by Euclid, and the Divine proportion by Luca Pacioli. It also goes by other names

Vitruvian man by Da Vinci

The artist derived his own formula for all human proportions:

arm span is equal to height
distance from crown to chin is ⅛ of a person's height
distance from crown to nipple line is ¼ of height
ear length is ⅓ of head size
distance from chin to nose is ⅓ of the entire face
shoulder width is ¼ of a person's height

Suddenly, Golden ratio found

These and some other proportions defined by Leonardo da Vinci remained the only canon in the depiction of a person for a long time. But later the ideas about the ideal began to change, a division into the depiction of ordinary people and various characters appeared. Differences between types of figures by gender and age also appeared.

Modern time

Most often, the proportions of a person in a drawing are based on the size of the head. A person is usually 7.5 - 8 heads tall. However, it is also possible to depict a heroic type whose height will be up to 9 heads. These proportions are relevant for an adult.

To draw tall people with long legs, models and Fashion illustrations, a height of 8 - 8.5 heads is most often used. The average figure is closer to 7.5 heads.

However, the ratio of the height of the navel from the feet to the height of a person remains approximately 3 to 5, which, in turn, reflects the inverse proportion of the golden ratio.

What about heels

I once read a sexist joke that the ancient Greeks believed that because of women's body imperfect proportions, heels came to the rescue.

Be that as it may, you can calculate the optimal heel length to look not only beautiful, but also harmonious with the Universe.

And for this it is enough to know the full height,

and the height from the feet to the navel.

Universe?

Well, that's how the idea of making a heel calculator came about.

Because the shapes of the golden ratio are indeed observed in a wide variety of manifestations.
